A Place where the members of a group can share information asks questions and gets extra help. It is accessible from any computer with an internet connections and web browser. It can be used for sharing useful information and important web links. Nice net can be used for:

1: Conferencing

2: Scheduling  

3: Document sharing

4: personal sharing

5: Link sharing

THE KIND OF STUDENSTS THAT I WOULD HAVE:

Nice net is a computer mediated conferencing system similar to e-mail and a bulletin board rolled into one. So students should have enough knowledge of technology or they should be familiar with internet. I am thinking about creating the nice net classroom because 15 out of 17 students have regular access to the Internet at their homes. These two students, who do not have the Internet, will go to their classmates and they will jointly participate during the discussions. So, the students will be able to participate actively. They will have an opportunity to interact among themselves. They can learn language by communicating with each other by using nice net.

I will use nice net to teach students comprehension skills. I will give them an article of Tomlinson about the principles of language learning and material production and then they have to share their ideas about what they have comprehended .So in this way; they can learn language by sharing views. Thus, in this way nice net is a interactive software very useful for learning purpose.

SUMMARY OF AN ARTICLE ON PODCASTING

Pod casting  is a  kind of audio via net ,designed to be downloaded and listened to on a portable MP3 player of any type ,or on a personal computer . Podcast now has provided a radio type that can be listened to whenever, wherever and as many times as we want. In ELT, pod casting is not just only providing additional listening input for students,but that students themselves can become involved in recording and producing the pod casts.


TYPES OF PODCAST:

1:Authentic Podcast:   Podcast that are not aimed at ELT students can often be a rich source of  listening.Sushi Radio is a type of podcast which is developed by non native speakers of English and their length make the ideal for use with the classes.

2:Teacher Podcast : Generally, teachers develop pod casts  for their students.Teachers' aim for designing podcast is to help the students or make them learn by listening content.


3:Students Podcast:Generally, students produce the podcast with the help of teachers .Students by creating podcast can introduce their culture to other students or they can also become familiar with other culture.English Conversations, is a podcast largely made for students.

4:Educator podcast: Comprehensible Input and Bit by Bit are reflective podcast that cover methodological matters as well as pod casting for ELT teachers.

Podcast can be used for classroom purpose.They can be  transferred to a portable MP3  or recorded to CD-ROM for use in the classroom.Students can use these types of recorded podcast for their study purpose in the classroom. Students can download the podcast by clicking on the link.Students can produce their own podcast own their own and then they can their family and friends to listen to it.

Social bookmarking service is a centralized online service which enables users to add annotate, edit, and share bookmarks of web document. Tagging is a significant feature at social bookmarking systems, enabling users to organize their document in flexible ways and develop shared vocabularies known as folksonomies.  

It is tagging a website and saving it for later .And because our bookmarks are online, we can easily share them with friends. The other important thing is that we can also look at what other people have found interesting enough to tag. Unlike file sharing, social bookmarking dose not save the resources themselves. Social bookmarking is the practice of saving bookmarks to a Public Web site and “tagging” them with keywords. Social bookmarking opens the door to new ways of organizing information and categorizing resources. . Because social bookmarking services indicate who created each bookmark and provide access to that person’s other bookmarked resources, users can make social connections with other individuals interested in just about any topic. One of the advantages of a social bookmarking site is that people can use them to find sites.

Delicious:

Delicious is a social bookmarking service for storing, sharing, and discovering web bookmarks. The site was founded by Joshua Schechter in 2003.Delicious is an internet site designed to allow us to access to any website which we have already bookmarked. Delicious is a social bookmarking site that allows a user to save their bookmarks online. By saving the websites into delicious we are directly saving them to our browser rather than to our computer. So the advantage is that we can access to our bookmarking sites anywhere and anytime with internet connection.  

How Delicious is useful for teachers and students:

Delicious can be used for educational purpose. Both teachers and students can use it for educational purpose. Teachers can store the websites which are important for them. Students can store their sites under specific tag. Students can share their sites among themselves. Whenever they want to use the sites they can directly go to delicious and use it, so they don’t have to go to goggle. Teachers can share the bookmarked sites to their students.Thus, in this way both teachers and students can use it.

This article was published on November 3,2003 by Nathan Matias. In this article he has provided information about Wiki.He has mentioned that wikis have better functions than E-mail. Cunninghan and Bo Leuf designed wikiwikiweb the first wiki in 1995.Wikis is basically a website where anyone can submit Anyone can edit the web page.Each page on wiki has an Edit,Save and Link buttons.The other important function of wikis is it can save even the plenty of old copies of our pages.We can also store all our websites content in an internal hypertext database.The process of creating new page on wikis is a simple one.In wikis ,we can organize pages however we want.The another important feature of wikis is ,we can create communities on wikis.Wikis is the purest form of  hypertext available on the web.Creating links with wikis is also the simple one.It  is also simple to use wikis in a classroom..Wikis keep track of our all stuff.Wikis also simplify the site organization.  

Notebook is a perfect example of how wiki technology can work well in other settings.Notebook is .a serious tool as well.Notebook can be used to keep track of research and ideas.In Notebook ,new wiki automatically contain help information and a great tutorial. Notebook works like a web browser .In this article Nathan shows us how Wiki and Notebook is utilized in the same manner is described.He has shown us that in creating links and pages both wikis and notebook have the same functions.

Nathan has also shared his views about wiki as web community software. Cunninghan and Bo Leuf designed the first wiki because they wanted to make their hypertext database collaborative.There are numerous advantages of making the site easily editable.So many people can easily participate in it.

Wikipedia is an extensive online Encyclopedia.Wikipedia is one of the largest knowledge base wikis.

Thus, wikis can be used for variety of purposes.The use of wiki in classroom makes learning enjoyable as well as it opens the classroom walls and attracts the vast audience.   

A short report on "Wikis in Plain English ' '

Leelfever Common craft  in his video "Wikis in Plain English'' shares his views about WIKIS in May 2007.Previously E mails were used to share information.People put information and then information was sent to everyone's inbox but E mails are not good in organizing group input. Wikis can be used for coordination. Wikis can be used for collaborative learning. People can share their ideas to everyone by using wikis.Wikis can be used to design online tasks. There are three essentials buttons in wikis , Edit, Save and Link.Anyone can edit in wikis and then by saving it the webpage can be transformed into document.By clinking on Linking button,we can go or create new page on Wikis.For example ,as i have seen in the video how the four friends use Link button to decide a location for their camp.We can asses wikis by www.pbwiki.com. www.wetpaint.com and www.wikispace.com. Thus in this way,we can use wikis for collaborative learning.
                           
From my point of view,wikis is an important web tool for collaborative learning.It is useful for organizing group tasks.Teachers can assign project to students and can ask them to post their projects on wikis.So in this way wikis can be used in classroom teaching.Wikis can be used in a following way for language learning:


If i want to use wiki in my class, I will use it in  this way.First of all i will show one short video to the students
and ask them to work in a group of four people and each student has to write his or her own summary about the video and post it on wikis and then each member has to edit  and save it.Then each group will have its one common summary and they will post it on wikis.Then they will be asked to read other groups' summary and   asked to edit and save the information.
This activity helps the students to improve their writing skill as well as their language.
